This is me. Finally.
I'm Frauke. I paint joy - and I took the long way to get here.
I grew up the quiet one, three siblings, always a little invisible. But there was one place I was seen: in front of a canvas. Art was the thing that said "I'm here" when I didn't quite know how to say it myself. That never left me.
Life took me across the world. Brazil first - and that country did something to me. It gave me my paintbrush back. The colours, the birds, the warmth of the people, the sheer aliveness of everything. It woke something up. I started painting again - in full colour. The kind that doesn't apologise for itself.
Then more countries. More rebuilding. More finding my feet in new places, making new friends, learning how to belong somewhere new.
Back in Germany, I lost someone irreplaceable. A gap that never fills. You just learn to live with it.
Grief doesn't want colour. But when you're ready to come back to it - colour is waiting.
Now I'm in Australia. My third country abroad.
This time, I chose myself.
People have always told me I carry a lightness - a Leichtigkeit. It lives in the brushstrokes too. Every piece I make is that heart-skip-a-beat feeling, the one you get when your favourite song comes on and you weren't ready for it.
You know you need colour in your life. You may not have been looking for art exactly... but you found it.
That's the whole point.
My Art
When I paint, the world goes quiet.
No problems. No noise. Just colour, movement, and complete presence. When a detail lands just right, when the colour sings I want to dance.
That feeling doesn't stay with me. It travels. Into the canvas. Onto your wall.
A friend once stood in front of one of my pieces and asked: "What would I need to pay for something like this?" I told her it was priceless. (But she still had to pay for it.)
My work is colour and movement that feels like music made visible, light that seems to come from within the painting itself. Nothing has to make perfect sense. It just has to make you feel something.
And it will.
Once it's on your wall, something shifts. You'll walk past it and smile without noticing you're doing it. The room will finally feel complete.
But more than that - every single day, without even thinking about it, you'll be reminded of something important.
JOY IS A DESICION. AND YOU MADE IT.
